#EndorseThis: Ben Carson Finds The True Meaning Of HUD

Yesterday President Trump took a field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture where he celebrated some of the most important figures in African American history, including Sojourner Truth, Booker T. Washington, and Ben Carson.

In a rambling speech he spoke about “special” Ben Carson, tasked with the difficult job of finding the esoteric significance of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. “Yes, I believe Ben Carson will find the true meaning of HUD,” Colbert said gleefully on Tuesday’s Late Show, “just like in the beloved children’s story How the Grinch Stole Housing.”

Colbert also criticized Trump’s bizarre claim that he “really started something” by hiring Carson — the former failed Republican presidential candidate. Colbert snarkily quipped, “It’s the greatest achievement for African Americans since about four weeks ago when we had a black president.”

True to form, Trump found a way to make this visit about himself. When the president introduced Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Trump couldn’t help but distractedly brag about his double-digit victory in South Carolina. Don’t worry, Colbert reminded us, “He’s still president, he’s just a loser president.”

In its 920-page policy manual the word “abortion” appears nearly 200 times.
